Shireen
Therapist
Hello, I'm Shireen Shabeer — a psychologist dedicated to offering compassionate, empowering, and non-pathologising care. My approach is deeply rooted in the belief that every distressing experience has meaning and that healing begins when we explore the story behind the struggle, not just the symptoms.
I hold a BSc in General psychology from India and an MSc in Clinical Child Psychology from UK, and have trained across diverse settings, including acute mental health hospital, special education environments, community settings and trauma-informed services across UK. My work is grounded in the Power Threat Meaning Framework (PTMF) — a model that moves away from labels and toward understanding the powerful ways in which life experiences shape our emotional worlds.
Whether you're navigating anxiety, trauma, burnout, or identity struggles, I offer a therapeutic space where your voice is heard and your story is honoured. I integrate evidence-based practices like CBT, ACT, DBT, Emotion schema therapy, solution focussed therapy, motivational interviewing and Compassion-Focused Therapy with a culturally contextualised, collaborative approach tailored to your needs.
As the founder of Talk_and_heal, my mission is to make therapy accessible, ethical, and human especially for women, children, and individuals from marginalised or culturally nuanced backgrounds. Together, we will not ask “What’s wrong with you?” but rather, “What’s happened to you — and how have you survived?”
You are not a diagnosis. You are a whole person with strengths, meaning, and resilience. And I’m here to walk beside you.

FAQs
Common Questions
What is PTMF informed therapy?
PTMF stands for Power, Threat, meaning Framework; a non pathologising approach to understanding emotional distress. Instead of asking "What's wrong with you?" PTMF asks:
1. What has happened to you?
2. How did it effect you?
3. What meaning did you make of it?
4. What strengths have you used to survive?
We will be exploring your story with compassion and curiosity, helping you make sense of your experiences in the context of power, relationships, culture and meaning; not labels or diagnosis.
Are all sessions online?
Yes, all sessions are offered online to ensure flexibility, comfort and accessibility. In person sessions may be considered based on location, availability and the presence of a suitable location.
Can I speak to you before committing to therapy?
Yes, I offer a free 15 minutes introduction call to help you get a sense of my approach and ask any questions. There's no pressure. Just a space to explore whether we are the right fit. As a psychologist and a clinical psychology graduate, I work with mild to moderate concerns. If your needs fall outside my scope, I will guide you towards appropriate support
